By popular demand, we are delighted to be running this course again in 2026, where you will learn how to grow plants in the shade.
Led by garden owner Vanessa Cook, you will learn plenty of tips for making the most of those shady spaces in your garden. Find out which plants to grow in east and north facing beds and under trees, as well as how to improve the soil conditions and help these shade plants to thrive.
This course will not only teach you how to grow plants in the shade, but also how to select plants that thrive in those shady places. If you struggle to choose suitable plants for shady areas in your garden, this course is for you. By using the many shade-loving plants of Stillingfleet gardens as an illustration, Vanessa will teach you how to be cheerful about the shade in your garden.

All courses include entry to the garden plus welcome coffee and biscuits. Unless stated, materials are provided and you will leave each workshop with plenty of reference information.
