A Garden Sketch Book with Kate Pettitt – July

Kate Pettitt is back for the second of four outdoor art workshops that she is leading this summer. Many of you will be familiar with Kate’s work at York Open Studios and we are delighted that she is joining us this summer to lead several full day art courses in the outdoors.
Fill your own sketch book with inspiration from the garden here at Stillingfleet Lodge. Under Kate’s guidance, observe and gather useful information, and use your materials to capture the colour and movement of the plants through the summer season. If you want to develop your art skills or just enjoy spending time with fellow artists painting outdoors, this course is for you.
If you have them, please bring your own materials, or alternatively buy a sketch kit from Kate for an additional £30 (order in advance here).
Please bring a foldable chair, packed lunch and additional drinks to keep you going through the day. The price includes a welcome tea/coffee plus homemade cake of the day.
About Kate Pettitt
Kate is an artist and designer living and working in York. She grew up on the edge of Dartmoor and studied fine art, illustration and graphic design in Exeter and York. Her paintings and drawings, which explore the natural environment and the human form, have been exhibited in England and Wales and are represented by galleries.
Kate’s landscape paintings all start out doors, with studies on paper and sketches which allow her to make an immediate, loose response to the landscape. These then trigger memories and inspire larger works back in her studio.

These full day art courses are sure to be popular and, with only 8 places at each one, early booking is recommended.
All courses include entry to the garden plus welcome coffee and biscuits. Unless stated, materials are provided and you will leave each workshop with plenty of reference information.
Workshop fees cannot be refunded if you cancel less than 7 days prior to date of workshop.
