Growing Vegetables Under Cover

This workshop looks at how to get the best from a greenhouse or polytunnel. It is aimed at those with, or considering acquiring, a greenhouse or polytunnel and covers all the aspects of growing under cover. As well as looking at growing summer crops such as tomatoes there’ll be a focus on using under cover space to grow fresh veg all through the year. Other topics covered will include using greenhouses and polytunnels to extend the seasons and grow seedlings and plants for later planting outside.

This workshop is suitable for both novice and more experienced vegetable gardeners who wish to grow crops in a green house or polytunnel. Not only will you learn how to get the most from the popular crops, you will also learn how to grow under cover in the winter.

The course is led by local organic gardening expert, Tony Chalcraft, who has grown just about every type of fruit and vegetable that can be grown in the North of England. He specialises in having fresh produce all through the year, mainly grown outside, but also using greenhouses and a polytunnel. It is this expertise that make his courses here so popular.

All workshops will mainly be held indoors, but you will get an opportunity to see the vegetable garden here at Stillingfleet Lodge as a reference point.
