Make a Wire Blackbird – Morning – SOLD OUT

Chris Moss is back for this half day sculpture courses where you will learn how to make a small wire blackbird to take home. We are delighted that Chris is bringing this new design to our Stillingfleet Lodge workshop programme in 2024. This session is suitable for beginners, but is also likely to appeal to those who have previously made robins and doves, so early booking is recommended.

Wire sculpture is a unique and versatile form of art offering a three-dimensional medium for artistic expression, enabling you to create intricate and dynamic sculptures. This is an opportunity to learn and develop a new artistic skill, working with wire, tools and learning techniques for shaping and assembling wire sculptures. At the end of the session you will leave with your own unique creation, suitable for display in your home or garden.

These sculptures will be made from galvanised wire, so they will be able to be kept outside without going rusty. Materials and tools will be supplied. Please wear practical clothes (no delicate textiles).

Chris Moss

Chris is based near Thirsk and her workshops are always popular, wherever the venue. She also creates sculptures that are mainly of wild and domestic animals and birds using both new and recycled metal materials. Each of her works are an original study of anatomy and behaviour and she gives a sense of life and energy to her subjects, ranging from small birds to life-size dogs and horses. This is the approach she will be sharing with course participants.

If you are a regular visitor to the garden you will see some of Chris’ sculptures in the garden all summer and you may have caught her regular August exhibition of her work in the garden.
