Eco-Print with Confidence
June 8 at 10:00 - 16:00
Join textile artist Jane Hare for a day of printing on paper and fabric using only leaves foraged from the garden and hedgerows. No paint, inks or dyes are used in the printing process because when it comes to colour, nature can be a treasure trove of possibilities.
On this full day workshop you will learn how to eco-print using only leaves and heat to create beautifully printed papers and fabrics.
At the end of the day, you will take home a printed scarf as well as an abundance of samples which can have many applications for mixed media artwork, card or book making or for sewing and embroidery. This exciting workshop will have plenty of ‘ta-dah’ moments and give you the confidence to repeat the process at home.
All fabrics and papers will be provided ready to print. Please bring along a good selection of leaves to experiment with: Rose, Geranium, Heuchera (dark leaved), Cotinus, Strawberry, Blackberry, Raspberry, Acer (large leaf) and Liquid Amber all usually give good prints but it is also good to try any non waxy leaf that looks to have a strong pigment or high level of tanning (note grasses and ivy do not print well). Onion skins and red cabbage also give good colour.
You may also like to bring along an apron, notebook and pen and a bag to carry home any wet fabrics.
Coffee and biscuits are included, but please bring a packed lunch.
